Meet-The-Filmmakers Brunch and Panel Discussion:
Animation in Film
Saturday, October 23, 10am-Noon
With features like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, The Incredibles, and The Polar Express pushing the animations envelope, what does the future hold? Will computer graphics take us to the next level or destroy animation as we know it?
Panelists include:
Gary Leib: president of Twinkle Animation in New York. At Gary is a successful animator and cartoonist whose work has appeared in the New Yorker and who contributed to the animation for the film American Splendor.
John Kuramoto: a senior animator at Twinkle who wrote the book on Flash --literally. The Art of Cartooning with Flash was published by Sybex in 2001 and has since been translated into Italian and Arabic.
Ted Petok: Academy Award winner for Animated Shorts in 1972 for The Crunch Bird. Ted has authored over two dozen comical shorts with many screenings at other festivals.
Rohitash Rao: an award-winning art director, writer and director for such clients as Energizer, Taco Bell, PlayStation 2 and The Scifi Channel.
Simon Tarr : creator of numerous award-winning animated films and shorts. He is co-curator of Cinema on The Edge and chair of the Association of Independent Video and Film Makers.

At 8:15 pm enjoy award-winning film director Alexander Payne’s (About Schmidt, Election) much awaited new film, Sideways. Then join filmgoers and filmmakers at the popular Chatham restaurant, Blue Plate, for an irresistible buffet of pastries and desserts.

The Art of Film Criticism

The panel will explore how film critics think and what criteria they use when judging films.
Distinguished panel includes:
Bruce Handy: senior editor and writer at Vanity Fair. Previous writer for Time, Spy, Saturday Night Live, The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, The New Yorker, New York and others.
Seth Rogovoy: editor-in-chief of Berkshire Living, WAMC's Cultural Czar, rogovoy.com
Ned DePew: frequent contributor and film critic to Berkshire HomeStyle Magazine.

By playwright, scriptwriter and Columbia County resident Anastasia Traina, whose work has been produced in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles. This play examines the life of Jack Robes, a man who seems to have it all – a beautiful house, loving wife, and three wonderful sons, but he’s beset by demons that threaten his increasingly fragile reality. Enter Clair, a mysterious woman who may be the only one who can help Jack put his life back together. Actors:
